The most important thing to know is that HEAT = BAD.
1. Wash in cold water. While it’s safe to use a washing machine, make sure the temperature of the water is set to cold as hot water can damage the ink causing fading or cracking.
2. Do NOT use the dryer. Although it’s quick and easy, throwing your graphic tee in the dryer can easily cause cracking and peeling of the ink even after just one run. The best option is to hang dry. Remember that heat = bad!
3. Wash the shirt inside out. Before throwing the top in the washer, inverting the shirt will help prevent excessive friction from damaging the ink which can lead to flaking or absorbing color from other garments. It also helps to set the washer cycle to gentle.
4. Do NOT iron the ink. The heat from the iron can easily cause the ink to melt and completely spoil the garment as a whole.
It’s important to understand that shirts with printed ink do require a bit more attention to preserve the ink. We can’t completely avoid cracking or fading but these tips can help add a few more years to its life!
